  • Home Builders Foundation

Established in 1993 as the philanthropic arm of the Home Builders Association, the Home Builders Foundation is a Denver-based nonprofit whose mission is to provide accessibility solutions and home modifications for individuals with disabilities and financial need.

The goal of the HBF is to help restore a level of independence for people with disabilities and a financial need by providing solutions to accessibility challenges. For example, we build ramps, widen doorways, and make bathrooms and kitchens accessible. Through the collaborated efforts of the home building industry, other nonprofits, companies, organizations and individuals, the HBF changes lives by providing home modifications which help people remain in their own home with dignity and independence.

Four criteria for assistance are: an accessibility need, a financial need, the home is owned and it is located in the 8-county Denver Metro Area. The application process entails a phone intake, an application with complete financial information, site visit, review by Gifting Committee and Board of Directors. The length of time that it takes to review and complete a project depends on the availability of our network of volunteers as well as funds available at the time of the request. However, on average it takes 3-4 months.
